The Story
A left-hander's legacy. A distiller's tribute.
After 500 years of the game; 60 years ago a great New Zealander achieved something never done before; Robert James Charles became the 1st ever left-hander ever to win one of golf’s Major Championships. To celebrate Sir Bob’s triumph in the 1963 British Open, we are releasing the 60 Year Anniversary Bottling at a price of $299.00, including a copy of Sir Bob's stunning biography (see www.bobcharlesbook.com) with proceeds going to the Bob Charles Foundation. Sir Bob Charles has personally chosen his whisky, from a selection presented by our Head Distiller Michael Byars. This delicious, rare single malt has been aged in NZ red wine casks and finished in smaller rye casks, for rich fruity flavours and nutty, spicy notes. This superb Single Malt Whisky is available for purchase now and is perfect for toasting the anniversary of another gritty, inspired victory of Sir Bob’s; the World Matchplay Championship at the end of October, 1969, (with an eagle on the 1st playoff hole), to defeat U.S. Open Champion Gene Littler in London. Sir Bob Charles remains the epitome of everything that we love about New Zealand; hard-working, talented, resilient and charming. Sir Bob, we salute you with our Left-Hand today!
